This just in from our Partner David Noble at Intelligen in Sydney: "In case you haven't heard, Gartner has made an offer to buy Australia-based analyst firm IDEAS International for approximately $A20 million. Details are fairly thin at the moment, but initial statement from IDEAS is that all analysts will be retained, and that the firms will remain separate – at least initially. Trading in IDEAS stock was suspended two days ago, and the offer will open to shareholders from May 7. IDEAS CEO Stephen Bowhill posted the following statement http://www.ideasinternational.com/About/Gartner. IDEAS has been on the market for some years, but has struggled with profitability until last year. My initial assessment is that this is a good price for IDEAS, but pretty much loose change for Gartner. There's obviously plenty of upside for IDEAS products, but as always it will be interesting to watch further developments." The New Year always brings the opportunity to renew and revamp things that need freshening up.
